id never heard of serotonin syndrome before i read it here, none of my shrinks ever told me. but sometimes i take e if i go out at the weekends, cos its better the next day for my head than drinking, but im on efexor just recently, and i was wondering can that interact badly, does anyone know the pharmacology?
also, how easy is it to tell the difference between serotonin syndrome and side effects, cos i get stuff like nausea and teeth chattering and huge pupils, but i thought that was just normal with some anti depressants?is it.

>There's no risk of developing serotonin syndrome from combining Effexor and Ecstasy, because Effexor (as well all the SSRIs) will completely block the effects of MDMA. Basically, it's a waste to use MDMA if you are currently taking Effexor or an SSRI. There are other substances put into MDMA pills that could cause a bad reaction, however. DXM, for instance, often shows up in Ecstasy tablets - and DXM + anti-depressants is a BIG NO-NO.

I haven't heard much about teeth chattering or dilated pupils, but they also sound relatively minor. It is all a matter of degree, I guess.

I definitely wouldnt mix AD's and xtc, its not a good idea really is it? Who knows what the effects could be, is it really worth it? From personal experience, Id say no. When I mixed them I had a baaad reaction. As was mentioned before, you dont get the full effect if any when your taking effexor anyways,so what would be the point? Im almost sure that in the long term, drinking would actauuly be better for your head, or Brain than taking xtc would be! Drinking might get ya physically tho!!!!!

AD's block MDMA for me, but I find this is not true for everyone. However, MDMA greatly effects
the AD action in me, and I had to wait 4 weeks for the AD's to kick in again. Given all this, plus MDMA tends to make depression worse and I don't think it is a good idea for depressives.

I've actually used E while on a Nardil 75mg (a MAOI) twice. It REALLY potentiates the effects greatly. I made a mistake by taking a full dose (1 pill) the first time I did it and i completely forget 70% of the night. The second time I thought I'd do half and the effects were about the same but I still only remembered about the same of the exprience.
I didn't notice anything different as far blood pressure and it took the usual time to recover from the post-E depression/agitation the next few days. After everything was said and done my blood pressure has been normal and Nardil is still working properly. I should also mention that I've also exprimented with most of the foods on the restriction list and have been able to handle them in a meal portioned sized.
I should warn anyone who doesn't already know this is STRONGLY advised against doing while on any MAOI and I've read that it could be fatal.
I've also used E while on many SSRIs and it usually just dulled the effects of the ecstasy.

thanks,
maybe its stupid of me but i didnt cop how it would just cancel each other out,the mdma and the effexor.i thought the other way like maybe it would potentiate the effects too much, but i know now.
i am really trying to stop doing pills(e),cos it probably does wreck your head in the long run!but its difficult, yknow when your out with your friends and theyre all getting madoutofit,so you feel left out, stupid,i know, but otherwise im sick of them slagging me off for 'moping'.

Its not moping, its just caring about yourself enough to know that it could really wreck your head in the future. You know, if you do really want to stop, then dont let others stop you! Im sure you will see that its just a quick fix, its not going to benefit you long term. Hey I dont want to lecture you, I just have first hand experience. Good luck!
