Hi, I have a 10 year old son that started Straterra 3 weeks ago as a result of LD test results indicated that he was possibly ADD. However, I need to add that my son was also hospitalized in February after a terrible uncontrollable anger fit and suicidle attempt. He was discharged after a week with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and he was started on Zyprexa. The LD testing he had was started inpatient and due to miscommunication in the hospital, had to be completed a week later. The LD testing indicated that he was possible suffering from PTSS and/or ADD. The summary of this report suggested that his Pdoc add an ADD stimulant to his medication. This is where the Straterra comes in. Also, I might mention that prior to hospitalization he had depression symptoms and he had been on paxil for 3 weeks. We were told that the fact he had such a negative reaction to the paxil was a clue that we were dealing with Bipolar Disorder.
My son has now been on Straterra for 3 weeks and the anger fits and super sensitivity is all back. I spoke with his pdoc last night and we agreed to stop the straterra.
Does anyone have any experience with mixing straterra w/ Zyrexa or treating ADD with a bipolar disorder. Also if anyone has stopped straterra - anything I should look out for?
This is the end of the thread.
