from Paxil CR to Lexapro

I have horrible dizziness, fogginess, and big time anxious feeling. Kinda jittery, and feel like my brain isn't functioning right. Any ideas.

Yes, I had major anxiety/panic while taking Lex. I was on 10 mg for the first two weeks, then it started. Went to 20 mg and stayed on for 2 1/2 weeks and anxiety did not stop. Decided to go back on my Zoloft. Only second day but still have some anxiety. Waiting for my Zoloft to kick in. It seems that Lex does that. I have talked to people and they have said it took a while, but I haven't experienced anxiety on a med like this before. How long have you been taking Lex?

These are side effects of Lex, usually appear during the first few weeks, and gradually lessen and go away. I had all of these plus several others.

Lex may take 6-8 weeks befor you experience "benefits"...for me it was 9 weeks.

Give your meds a chance to work and don't get discouraged! We're all pulling for you!

I am on Paxil at the moment and it has really done wonders for me. I suffer from very deep anxiety. It is not overtly obvious but it runs deep. I have tried Prozac, Effexor, Mirtazapine, Reboxetine and couple of others and Paxil seem to be the only one that doesn't induce tension while controlling anxiety. There is on problem though and that is drowsiness. I tried taking it at night but that didn't work, infact it gave me insomnia. No I am trying to add Lexapra to it.
Has any one tried this combination? Does it have any chance.

The other thing has any one heard of Femoxetine. What it the mistry behind this drug. There are so many good things written about it and yet it doesn't seem to be on the market anywhere in the world.

Is there an expert in dr.bob.org to whom I can write and ask?

kkat. thanks for the follow up. I have been on Lex 10 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I can't go this feeling. I am a surgery nurse and this can't happen. Talked with my doc at home while ago, he says may be withdrawal also from Paxil CR. Hec I don't know what to do. Prozac made me feel anxious.

Prozac made me anxious too. I have been on zoloft since 1999. Went off when I was pregnant and back on during my 6 mos due to anxiety. It worked within 1 1/2-2 weeks. I gave it a total of about 5 weeks and for me, it didn't seem to work, so I started back on zoloft again. Thought Lex might be good. Not that I was that bad on zoloft. I guess I shouldn't have switched, but I did. I think people know if something is working or not. If you don't think it is, then talk to your doc. I have to call mine and tell him I switched back to zoloft. I told him last week should I go back on zoloft or give it some more time and he said give it one more week. That's when I said forget this, this panic attacks aren't worth it and they aren't subsiding. Hope my zoloft starts kicking in soon. I don't have near the panic attacks since I quit taking Lex three days ago, just the depression so will wait for zoloft to kick back in (I hope). Good luck! I know how you feel. It is very tough.

Years ago on Paxil which made me manic...many meds later and reavaluation of diagnosis from mag dep + panic/gad to Bi-polar +panic/GAD,
I tried going from Lexapro to "see if the CR formula was better then the 'old' Paxil" and within two weeks hypomania set in...doc said hold off another week and added risperdal---we/I really wanted to try it ( the paxil) and nothing---almost a full blown manic episode-- had to d/c and go back to lexapro.

Sidebar note: Although all of the "data" indicates that lexapro is "better" then Celexa, doc is not so sure. I think today--I see him in a few hours- we are revisiting celexa. Oh, the joy of being a medical toy.

From Lexapro to Celexa/ Sailor

I recently stopped taking Lexapro and started taking Celexa instead. I must say--although I haven't taken it long enough to see results--I'm not getting anywhere near the uncomfortable side effects that I did with Lexapro. Lexapro gave me constant jaw/muscle tension that never went away. Good luck sailor, let's sail away into a sea of serotonin...
