thoughts on drink VS drugs

yeah the two demons.a while ago i was at my shrinks, was really depressed at the time, and was drinking nearly every night, which isnt normal for me.so i told him this when iwent to him,and he told me alcahol is one of the worst CNS depressants,70% of suicides occuring on it.then he went on to tell me,that he was at a contferance where there was some leading drugs specialist, and they were discussing e,and instead of saying how bad and evil it was,he was telling them basically they couldnt find much wrong with it,other than whatever they use to cut it up with.like my shrink wasnt saying, yeah,e is great,go out and take it!but that its better for the head than drinking.
i saw a programme recently about some guy who had parkinsons, and they did a test over two days.one day he was given l-dopa,the other an e tab.it was the day he took the latter he could walk aroung with perfect mobility, and drink out of a normal cup without his hand shaking so much he spilt it all over himself,as opposed to the baby beaker he had been drinking out of.

There is truth to both sides of the argument.
A drink now and again will not pose any danger, but prolonged use of alcohol does induce various biochemical changes that can greatly precipitate depresive states. Gaba, Cortisol, and Serotonin receptor modulation just to name a few.

As far as E goes, the scientific literature clearly implicates it as a far more neurotoxic chemical than alcohol. Yes it will improve tremors due to its ability to displace dopamine from the synapse but this effect is definately *not sustainable*. Ecstacy is also a marvolous antidepressant, but likewise it cannot maintain the improved neurochemistry. Tolerance, and serotogenic dendrite atrophy quickly develop. A depressive, or Parkinson's sufferer would be in a much worse state after a year of Ecstacy use.

Antidepressants and L-Dopa may be weaker drugs, but their effects are generally more sustainable.
