Does Remeron do much for anxiety for most folks? (Doesn't seem too good for anxiety based on some posts I've read here).
Anybody using it successfully for OCD? (I know the literature says some are, just wondering if it helps lots of folks for that or just a select few).
thnx

It does help. I've only been on it a month but it has helped my generalized anxiety. It has also, however, made me very hungry. You can see my post up above. I don't know about OCD- -I was checking the locks every night before bed, and I've stopped! But I think that is just "normal," everyday OCD, not the tormenting variety.
All the SSRI's I've ever tried have made me very agitated. Remeron, at least, doesn't make things worse.
My best to you--
Pap

Hi McPac;
Remeron does nothing for my anxiety disorder, but works wonders for my depression. I take Clonazepam for the anxiety. As for OCD, I only had the obsessive part, not the compulsive aspect, and for the obsessive part the Remeron worked great for me. It really calmed my mind, the ruminating thoughts, worries and "what ifs" that plagued my every waking moment. I've been on it almost 17 mos at 30 mg. Hope this helps.

>>>>>Glad it worked for your OCD. And your OCD (obsessive part) was VERY bad? (Trying to see if Remeron was strong enough to work for very bad ocd).

Hope this helps.>>>>>> Ess...important question....does the 30 mg. CAUSE nervousness/jitteriness for you? (Wondering about increased epinephrine (adrenaline) effects). I was on 45 mg before and I was WAY too nervous/jittery....but 30 mg. may not do that to me...were you ever on 45 mg? If so, any jitters? Your reply helped me a LOT. I'd like to give it another try, just don't think I could take 45 mg again. Thanks so much!!!

Hi McPac;
Yes, the obsessive part of my OCD was bad, it totally controlled my life, basically putting a stop to it. I rarely went out and wasn't functioning even at home. Rem really did calm the obsessive thoughts.
The 30 mg doesn't make me jittery but I think it's affected my anxiety, as in raising it a bit. It was a personal choice for me not to go to 45 for that reason, I've been told that at higher doses that anxiety can be an issue, and since 30 mg raised it a bit, I wasn't going to throw things off by increasing the Rem. Everything is being controlled now nicely and I've got my life back on track on 30 mg with the help of the Clonazepam.
Take care.

In reply to THANKS ESS!!! (nmi) Re: Remeron questions, posted by McPac on April 26, 2003, at 13:22:28
McPat,
I'm taking 45 mg, and planning to go up to 60! When I initially raised from 30 to 45, I did feel some increased anxiety, also sort of a sparkly, "activation" feeling, and had more trouble falling asleep. I went back to 30 for another 10 days or so, and when I raised it again it was okay--much more mild and it went away after two days or so. 45mg now helps me sleep--I'm pretty sensitive, too. One thing I've learned from reading this message board though is that everybody reacts differently to these drugs.
Best,
Papusa
