Posted by tammy on April 14, 2003, at 12:00:21

i started taking effexor xr last month, and the 4th day of doubling the dose, i got migraine like headaches, with the blurred (missing vision)
type migraines. i tuffed out the headaches for 3 days, it was very hard for me to focus when i got up in the morning, it took several minutes for my eyes to start working.... i got scared, and my dr. was on vacation so i decided to stop....... (on it a total of 2 wks 2 days) 4 days after stopping my vision was funny, but no headache, vision kinda come and go blurry? hard to explain what it feels like, only in my one eye, i called the nurse to tell her i quit taking it and how my eye felt, now this is a week later, she said make an eye appointment, then called me back and said start effexor again the dr. thinks my headaches were from sinus's and gave me an antibiotic. the vision in my eye isnt any better, it comes and goes usually lasting most of the day (weird)only in my right eye. has anyone experienced this????????????? any input would help.......
thanx in advance........

I had a similar experience to this on Luvox. I think it may be a visual migraine or migraine aura.

To be honest, it sounds like this is not the right medication for you. The cause of migraine is not fully understood, but some folks think that they may be related to neurotransmitters. It's possible that what Effexor does for you also gives you a big ol' migraine -- every _day_.

I'd wait and see a psychiatrist, too.
