Wellbutrin pooping out?

Posted by mp1266 on April 11, 2003, at 15:45:51

I have been on Wellbutrin for 2 years and thought it worked great. In October it did not seem to be working anymore, I was crying all the time - really stressed. But then again I had just moved to a new city, was looking for a job and got a divorce. I decided to try other antidepressants (effexor and lexapro) and they all have terrible side effects (sexual, sleepiness, weight gain). I'm thinking about having my pdoc put me back on wellbutrin but increasing the dose from 300mg to 400mg. Has anyone seen benefits with increasing the dosage of wellbutrin?

It could have very well pooped-out. I think moving to a new city is not a reason for a med to loose it's effectivness. You may have just started to get used to your previous environment. If that's the case then maybe Wellbutrin had a good placebo effect. Perhaps try some new ADs and see if there is any improvent. Best wishes.

Hey, Just wanted to let you know, I was on wellbutrin for 2-3yrs. At the end I was on 400mg a day. My Dr took me off it cold turkey and put me on celexa, which I also take with Adderall(ADD) and I became EXTREAMLY manic, parinoid, and all the rest, I knew I had no longer had any effectiveness on the wellbutrin and needed something else. So I dont want you to go thru the same. Tell your Doc to try another drug instead of the ultra-high welbutrin regimine., Gook luck, keep us posted, Jared
