A while back there was a discussion on this list about Soy Sauce and MAOIs. Someone had found a study of different soy sauce brands and their tyramine contents. I know it vary wildly. Does anyone recall that information or is the original poster still around?
(I tried a search of past messages but couldn't find anything.)

and Scott E. Walkerfirst of all, the author states that "all soy sauces and indeed all soybean products should be avoided"
having said that, the following levels of tyramine (mg) were detected in 15 mL servings of soy sauce
Wing's 0.1483
Kimlan 0.5496
Ozeki Sashimi 1.2488
Pearl River 3.3652
Kikkoman 0.4351so, how did the lamictal trial go?

The Lamictal was a bust. I got up to 300mg and started having side effects. Increased dizziness, nausea, sleepiness... So I tapered off. So much for that one! Now I'm going to try Seroquel to help with mood stability and sleeping (I seem to either sleep much too much, or can't sleep at all.) I don't usually handle anti-psychotics very well though, but the doctor said this is a mild one. If it doesn't work we'll try Topamax again. I was on it before and had terrible acne, but perhaps at a low dose of 25mg it won't be bad. It's great to help with appetite anyway. I don't remember it being particularly sedating though.
Well, I'm not too hopeful. But I'll be upping the Parnate back to 100mg too.
How're you doing these days?

Nothing wrong with tofu! It's fresh, soy is fine if not aged. Tempeh isn't allowed and that's why there's a bit of confusion over soy sauce/tamari. Some are aged/fermented more than others. From my experience most seem to be safe, and Cybercafe gave us a list of brands.
I eat lots of tofu.

I don't understand this restrriction on soy sauce. Does this mean that a person taking an MAOI can't eat anything in a Chinese restaurant or buffet because they use soy sauce in everything?
