Greetings all,
Have y'all been warned about the increase danger of diet restrictions with Parnate vs the other MAOI's?
My doctor said Parnate is more "potent" in causing reactions that others.Anybody tried mozzarella on Parnate?
I'm dying for some "real" cheese...no pun intended!thanks in advance,
Siba

I noticed when I was on parnate that the slightest bit of caffeine would start causing what seemed like a hypertentsive crisis. But then on nardil I could drink a whole pot of coffee and feel fine. I would say there is deffinately more danger of interactions on parnate than with nardil.

I guess I'd assume, due to Parnate's metabolism to amphetamines, that stimulants of any type would be even more contraindicated along with tranylcipromine than with phenelzine... just a thought.

I haven't noticed a difference between the two....There is VERY little evidence that Parnate is metabolized into amphetamine or methamphetamine, in fact most evidence suggest it isn't (even in overdose)

I have had no problems with mozzarella, and recently tried Monterrey Jack (small amount) on my taco with no hypertensive reaction. This is just my experience of course, but FYI i believe mozzarella in particular is ok on the newer lists. I took Nardil before and have noticed no difference, diet-wise, from the Parnate. Best of luck to you.
