My Lamictal finally kicked in at 275mg along with 5mg Zyprexa. The positive effects went away within one night. That night was a night of drinking, but I woke up still feeling the good effects of the Lamictal, but it wore off during the course of the day. Has this happened with anyone, drinking aside, and did you regain therapeutic effects. I'm moving up to 300mg tomorrow and hoping for the best. I feel stupid as hell for drinking, but I don't know if thats to blame.

Well with me, the nice effect lasts about a week, and then stops until i up the dose. I'm at 400mg, and i've been on it for a month or so. Good feeling still? Nope. MAXIMUS suggested adding a SMALL amount of a TCA to get better results, and i have yet to try that.

IMHO, I think the drinking did have an effect. I did the same thing last Thursday and this same thing happened to me.

Tom,
I was also told that we should not drink alcohol while on these meds-but how reasonable is that! We all know that alcohol is a depressant.Good luck sweetie-hope you feel better, been there, done that

You'll know soon enough whether it was the drinking, but I have read that with Lamictal, some people get a short burst of relief early on, but when you finally reach your optimal dose it sticks.

Thanks for the info. I don't feel as bad since the good effects wore off but I just don't have that even keel feeling. I felt so even. Going to 300 tonight.
