I was doing really well with adding fish oil to Celexa, but I quit because it was making me hyper, but since quiting I am now sleeping around 15 hours a day. I feel so usless and I am sleeping my life away. I went back on the fish oil, but it's not working like it did.
My question is? I am on 20 mg of Celexa. Should I take more or less to get rid of the fatigue. Should I add something to it, preferably something that doesn't cause me to much anxiety. Any suggestions and I would love to hear from people who have gone through this and what they did. Maybe I should switch meds?
Help.......... Thanks.

few things...
a short-term solution might be a supplement called NADH (brand name Enada). This helps to modulate dopamine and NE levels. It will give you energy without a lot of side effects. Unfotunately, a tolerance builds up over time, and you'll probably lose most of the effects after a couple of weeks. You might notice some intermittent sleepiness throughout the day too.
A better long-term option might be adding a low dose of DHEA or pregnenolone to your morning meds. Try 2.5-10 mg and see if it has an effect. Pregnenolone might be better for fatigue, but some also prefer DHEA for it. It takes a lot of time to build up in your system and rebuild your adrenal system. I'd give it a month before you really find the full effects. But they do work. If you find yourself getting irritable, anxious, wired, you're taking too much, so lower the dose. You'll probably have to try a dose too high for you to know what's the best level for you. Remember to be patient with this option, but they do work.
Talk to your doc about augmenting the celexa with something else:
1) Lower dose of celexa to 10mg and augment with 30 mg Remeron. Remeron is taken at night and will help with sleep. In the first 1-2 weeks, you will feel more tired throughout the day than you did on Celexa. But these effects are transient. From my experience, 30mg of Remeron + 10 mg of celexa is less sedating than celexa itself at 20mg. Also, with remeron, the HIGHER the dose you take, the less tired you will feel. It might be worth a try.
2) Consider trying a stim, low dose of wellbutrin, or low dose of provigil. These work for some while others find them ineffective or the side effects not bearable.
3) Try duloxetine when it comes out. Should give you a lot more energy than the celexa and probably a better mood effect to boot.
Good luck.

Jaynee- I have been on Lexapro for a week now and am sleeping my life away too. It is awful. I can't do anything. The only thing that might make me function is coffee. I am very depressed and am wondering if or when these side effects will ever go away. If you find anything good to boost your energy- please let me know.
Thanks.

i had similar problems with celexa, it was making me sleep a lot, but when i was awake i was exhausted. it was like i was a total zombie all day! i had to stop taking it, because as a university student it was interfering with my classes.... i couldnt focus or concnetrate, it was hard to even keep my eyes open (not a problem i normally have) so i stopped taking it, and am now on effexor and it's going much better.
keep up hope!
