Hi agent. I just came across this post. I've was on Seroquel 25-50 mg at bedtime and as needed throughout the day for racing thoughts and severe anxiety. I took this for about 15 months. Very helpful for that time.
For a few reasons I stopped Seroquel 4 days ago. My pdoc knows this. The anxiety hit full force the next day and hasn't gotten much better. Since quitting I've had this sense of dread right in the core of my body. I think this is a bodily reaction to stopping the Seroquel. Yes, it is a low dose but this is my experience.
I am hoping it will get better over the next couple of weeks. I'll be trying another med I'm sure when I see my pdoc this week, but for now it is all I can do to take it one day at a time.
Are you stopping Seroquel? By the way, thanks for your encouragement to me over on the other board!

hey lauren,
i've been on seroquel (50 - 100 mg at night) for about 2 months now and i really like the way it's working for me. I also take 200mg of lamictal. why are you quitting the med that's helped you so much? i'm really curious, just because i'm new to this med. did you ever feel like you were becoming immune? my biggest fear is that my dosages will increase to reap the same benefits and eventually i'll have to switch to something else, and something else, and then something else- yuck. i tried ambien for sleep and it wore off in less than a week. i can take an ambien and be up an hour later. seroquel has really helped me. anyway, just wondering. thanks!

Hi pork chop. I'm glad Seroquel works so well for you. I had great success on that med too. My dose was just 25-50 mg at night and when needed, but it really did the trick.
I stopped Seroquel to try Abilify. I had a bad reaction to the Abilify so stopped that and restarted the Seroquel. Unfortunately I couldn't tell anymore what was a med reaction and what was akathesia so I stopped Seroquel last week.
I still have Seroquel to use whenever my racing thoughts get out of control and my anxiety becomes unbearable. I may even resume it as my medication reaction is pretty much gone. I have an appointment Wednesday with my pdoc and will probably devote most the time talking about meds.
I am glad Seroquel is working so well for you. I wasn't necessarily taking it for sleep but it sure helped. I never found I needed to increase the dose either. Best wishes.
This is the end of the thread.
