I was thinking that I take a fair amount of Dexedrine for ADD(20mgx2).The other day in the waiting room at the Dr.,s,there was another patient besides me,waiting for the doc to arrive(the "oh,He,s running late from Hospital rounds"thing). We passed casual conversation talking ADD and meds. She asked me what I took. When I told her,she smiled and said"Wait till you get on my dose".The lady was on 50mgx3 a day.I read 20x3 was the MAX per day on this drug. How can this woman handle all that much?Did I read the wrong info? How much is too much? What if he raises mine to one of these "too high levels"?How much do any of you guys take?Am I just paranoid or what? Okay, 150mg is just a lot. That brings up the days of the 60's when housewives would tweak out on it for dieting.
But 60mg, to be fair, is the highest of the -average- daily dose, not the maximum safety dose or the pre-toxicity dose.
150 isn't toxic, but it can't be healthy. At that dose, she must be on something to help her sleep.

Well, she may not be just ADD, she may have a big ole atypical depression problem too, in which case she may need more. And dex builds tolerance, so the dose goes up over the years.
There are people on mind boggling amounts of an AD called Parnate, which metabolizes to methamphetamine/ amphetimine. I don't see how they stand it but apparently that's what they need. Every body's different. Different genetic groups will metabolize certain drugs differently, too. Med doses are very personal.

We did not find amphetamine in the blood samples. This lends strong evidence against amphetamine being a metabolite of tranylcypromine, an issue4 that has been discussed by Jefferson.11 He argued that because of lack of evidence, amphetamine should not be considered as a metabolite of tranylcypromine. The negative findings of this study and of other recent studies9,12 increase the list of unsuccessful efforts. It has become unlikely that amphetamine is a metabolite of tranylcypromine in humans.

So my psychopharm guy is ignorant, or lying to me? I think I'll trust the famous doctor, thank you, as well as the all the texts and studies I've read that back him up. One of the warnings when you go on this drug is that you'll flunk drug tests, you pee meth and amphetamines. And it sure as hell felt like speed to me. Same for selegiline.
