I am just wondering if anyone has been on Lexapro long enough to tell if like like other meds it reaches a point where it just stops working?
I am feeling like maybe I hit my saturation point and SSRI's are only going to work up until a certain point for me. I can't seem to get back to my first time on Prozac GOOD days.
What a shame.

Well I haven't exactly had a Lex poop out, but I've been taking 20 mgs a day for months and while I feel jittery, (take clonazepam to handle that), I do seem to go through short periods of mild depression for no reason. But then I can perk back up. I don't know, I've been wondering the same as you have here lately.... Good Luck to You!

Joanie:
Thanks for responding. I read some place in this board that people have experienced on and off feelings of depression coming through even though their medication was working. That sounds strange to me. I know everyone has good and bad days, but we are talking about depression not being in a bad mood. I am going to ask my doctor about it.

I've had a few times where I'll feel depressed (I'm on Lex and WB), but it doesn't last for more than a few hours - half a day at most. I don't want to be so medicated that I don't respond to outside stimuli at least somewhat 'normally'.
When I was on Paxil (supposed to be similar to Prozac) I felt too 'up'; I didn't feel like things were leveling out - almost like having too much caffeine, but without the twitchiness.Hopefully my little depressed episodes aren't an indication that I'm heading towards Lex poop out. Did yours start out short and get longer?

Actually, I am not sure what is going on with my medication. As I increased the meds, I felt good for a week. Then suddenly, I had about 4 days of bad depression. Now, I am feeling better, but literally nothing in my life has changed. I am not sure what to think about this medicine and my reactions.

How long have you been taking Lex? I have had a similar experience when I increased from 5mg to 10mg. Have only been taking it for 7 weeks, so not sure it has had enough time to work for me?
Have been readding posts here for a while and it seems that many people get results after 6-8 weeks.
This is the end of the thread.
