> Hi Everyone, I just thought I would ask for some prayers and support. My 2 year old son climbed up on to the kitchen cabinet last night and got into my Med. Cabinet. I thought being that it was up high that they were safe. Well I guessed wrong. I was missing about 10 Wellbutrin SR 150 MG Not sure if he actually took it or not but posion control ( I cant spell) told me that I must take him to local ER ASAP. We did he had to drink 13 grams of Charcol mixed with Chocolate pudding. Lucky he ate it all so we did not have to put a tube down his throat. When then after spending four hours in ER we were told he had to stay over night just in case he had seizure. Thank God it was a pretty eventless night. He got a little squirly until about 2:00 AM then finally passed out. HE was released at 11:30 Am today and seems to be going good but we still have to monitor him. So please everyone make sure you meds are in a tight secure space that nobody especially young ones can't get to them. We are very lucky but I would hate to have any of you go through the termoil I went through last night. They are my meds and I am still sick to my stomache that I could have killed my son or ruined him for life. I seen my Therpist today so she is helping me cope better. But if you could just remember Ike and me in your prayers. God bless and Thanks for letting me tell my stor here. NOTINSANEJUSTPPMD

Dr. Bob,

I am extremely sorry about the incident. You must have been terrified. I am sure your child will be all right. That is good advice about keeping medicine safe from children.

Best wishes to you and your 2 year old.

Yes, kids are resilient, and I hope he continues to feel better and has no long-term problems.

If it makes you feel any better, when I was 2 (and I am a girl) on two separate occasions I ate 1) rat poisoning that was behind the refrigerator, and 2) bleach tablets for the laundry. And my mom was a good mom, too! I was just a handful. So hopefully this will be just an incident that will blow over and he will be fine.

But excellent advice on the stashing of medications with children in the house.

And, please don't blame yourself at all -- for one, as I say to everyone who is on medications, you did not ask for the illness for which you are taking medication, and for two, 2 year olds will find anything and everything they are not supposed to have and put it in their mouths. You are an excellent mother whose 2 year old is pretty darn resourceful.

Thansk Thomas123, I have had a great weekend by myself to think about everything. And I realized it was not my fault. I too had many tramas my mom said when I was little. And it did not make her a bad mom just made her grow stronger. All is good with the little guy, child proofed everything. Thaks for your support and kind words it is very much appreciated. God Bless you and I hope you have a wonderful day! Love NINJPPMD
