questions

1. is it normal for a stimulant user to always wake up tired?
do you have to keep some ritalin beside your bed to wake you up?

2. what's the best way to transport benzos ... i.e. so you always
have one on hand for that unexpected anxiety attack

I don't think so. I don't wake up more tired because of stimulant medication.

No, I often feel fairly alert and focused in the morning without taking any dex. I often save my dex for the late afternoon and early evening when I am can barely function. I used to wait until 11 or noon to take my Concerta, for the same reason.

Get a little pill box. I think officially you are supposed to keep either the bottle or the stub from the pharmacy with you if it is a controlled substance.

i feel depressed once the stimulant (ritalin) has left my system... so i don't want to get out of bed in the morning... is this normal?

Yes. It is normal to feel depressed when ritalin wears off. But it wears off so quickly for me that it works, wears off, then the wear off depresion wears off long before the next morning.

My pdoc does not like Ritalin SR - he won't write for it - either Ritalin IR or Concerta only.

Ritalin IR wears off for me in about 2 hours. Concerta seemed to last about 8 hours, and the wear off was much more gentle.

I don't think anyone really does. I just seem to remember seeing somewhere that you are supposed to keep it in the original bottle or keep a copy of the prescription record if it was not in the bottle.

I take Adderall, and don't notice anything different about waking up; I've always been slow to wake up, but I don't think the stimulant has anything to do with it. I am on a very low dose, though.

As for carrying pills -- I'm very casual about it, will walk around with Xanax, Adderall and so on in my shirt pocket, have some in my desk drawer, backpack, etc. However, my pdoc has admonished me about this -- he says that technically, you're supposed to keep meds in a prescription bottle, or at least have a copy of the prescription with you. I always do this when I travel, just not in everyday situations, but I suppose that I could get into trouble or at least be inconvenienced if I were stopped for some reason. I just don't worry much about those things.

Apparently, many pharmacies will provide very small bottles or envelopes with a copy of the prescription on them -- you might ask about that.

My pdoc also mentioned that every few months he'll get a call from a high school etc. asking him to verify the legality of some pill that was found on one of his student patients, or in their locker, and he says that (technically) possessing the meds without the prescription on hand can result in a fine. I'm not sure if this is just state-specific, or a federal law.

oh.... were you guys depressed before you took stimulants?

it is normal for me to be depressed, so when ritalin wears off it just seems to return me to my normal depressed state
