headache! Neurontin or Lexapro?

Posted by Lia Mason on February 9, 2003, at 1:36:06

Hi,

I'm trying to solve a medication mystery. One of my meds is giving me a bad headache. I've had it for a week. I've been on Neurontin and Lexapro for about the same time (2 weeks). Anyone have headaches with these drugs? I initially thought this was a reaction to dropping my imipramine from 300 to 250, but this is going on a bit too long for that.

Thanks, Lia

I was on Celexa and Neurontin before with clonazepam. I never got headaches from Neurontin. I *did* get headache from SSRI's, however. The "Celexa headache" faded after two weeks. Maybe you can wait it out another week?

Hi Lisa,

I took Nuerontin for about nine months and struggled with headache the whole time. It was a pronounced strong pressure behind one eye, but the MRI was clear. I was also on Serzone, which I toook before and after. I posted here a few times with similar questions, but no one else had any experience with headaches and Nuerontin. However, when I stopped the Nuerontin the headaches eventualy went away...??? FYI, there is also some research that questions Nuerontin's effectiveness as a mood stabilizer. I am hoping to try Lexapro soon, so if I get any headaches there, will let you know -

I was on Neurontin for several months along with Celexa a couple of years ago and didn't have any headaches, but I think a lot of people on the Lexapro thread here have experienced headaches starting it up. They go away after a few weeks. Of course, from what PV says, it could also be the Neurontin. I would just give it a little more time, and in the meantime I hope you have found something that helps with the pain.

This is the end of the thread.
