how much food to take geodon with?

Posted by babs on January 26, 2003, at 16:30:33

I know geodon has to be taken with food, but how much? Does it have to be a full meal or could I just take it before bed with some crackers? I just started it on Friday and have been taking it with breakfast but it is making me extremely sleepy (today I took a 4 hour nap! Can't do thyat during the week!) and I'd like to take it before bed. Thanks.

I don't bother taking it with food. It seems to work fine on my symptoms even when I don't eat. I take 120 mg and have been taking it for over a year.

You definitely need to take it twice a day. I noticed that only taking it once a day left me with some symptoms.

Also, most people need at least 80 mg a day for resolution of psychotic symptoms. If you don't have psychosis, then I hope you have tried other meds that might help first. AP's cause tardive dyskinesia more often in people who are not diagnosed with schizophrenia.

I hope this helps.

Food increases Geodon absorption

I ran a “Search with options” in the archives for Geodon food and found 50 matches. In particular, I noted http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20010507/msgs/62329.html which mentions that food doubles its absorption.

It seems that taking Geodon with a snack would suffice.
