There are certain times during each week, doing certain projects, when it would be really advantageous to have the best focus. I don't want to take Ritalyn daily---can one take it PRN?

Sure, no prob. You can take Ritalin as needed instead of regularly. It's not like the antidepressants. It's a very short acting med anyway. Taking it only as needed will also keep the risk of tolerance and addiction low.
