Effexor : Anyone else had this prob

Posted by firebird_woman on December 20, 2002, at 8:23:12

My life with (150 mg)Effexor was just short of a nightmare.

I was on the drug for around nine months total. During that time the following things took place in my body.

I became unable to sleep longer than an hour or so at a time.

I had swelling in my feet and legs to the point that it became difficult for me to walk.

Shortness of breath.

Became so weak, that I could no longer even shop on my own.

Weight gain was a min. (Was overweight before started on drug.)

Short term memory was gone. Long term was quickly following.

VERY Irritable at times, other times, I was docile.

Other inform:
Blood pressure was never the same twice. Never very high, just never the same twice.

Doctor finally added Neurotin. (Made things worse.)

Just wanted to see if I were alone with this, or if there were others that had simular reactions.

Thanks,
Firebird_Woman

I had similar reactions to the blood pressure,
sleep, memory and anger.

Good Luck

You are definately not alone.
Hostility I'd never had a problem before effexor
I could not let perceived slights or old anger go.
I had the same erratic moods, (erratic being an understatement) and the water retention was unbelievable. With me it was in my stomach and sides I couldn't bend sideways.. It happened within 2 weeks, my face swelled too I gained a total of 35 lbs within a month, mostly water. I was crying for lack of sleep, and so tired I was hallucinating.
Tinnutus so loud I thought it was coming from the radio.
Lets just say it took every part of me physically and emotionally and ravaged it..

Ya know though, it works really well for my sister..

Thank you for letting me know that I wasn't the only one.

I have a great friend in Canada that loves effexor and has had great results with it.

Wonder why it seems that it does great for some, and so horrible for others? (Seems there isn't any middle ground with this medication.)
