Hi All--
I have been reading your informative posts and have a question maybe someone can help me with.
I am currently on a therapeutic dose (112.5mg, then upping to 150mg. next week)of Effexor XR and it has done wonders for my severe GAD. I am virtually symptom free of panic/anxiety at two weeks into treatment.
However, the underlying depression that always creeps up after a severe bout with anxiety has surfaced. I am overeating again (where as I barely ate at all during the anxiety) and my energy levels are quite low during the day--I am really lethargic. I can barely get anything done and I am sick of having to to take naps! I really want my energy back.
Has anyone here had this same problem with XR and what if I were to add a small dose of Wellbutrin to the XR?
I was on Wellbutrin 300mg/3 times a day last year and it gave me headaches and some agitaion so I quit it. But I am talking about adding a much smaller dose of Wellbutrin to the XR in the morning to combat the fatigue, loss of energy, lethargy, and food cravings.
Thanks for any input,
JM

Wellbutrin makes a good augment for Effexor. If you could hack 150mg 2x daily (with some agitation), then maybe just a 100mg SR in the morning would work quite fine for you.

Thanks for your reply, Ritch. I don't have another pdoc appointment for two weeks but am going to ask for 100mg/day of Wellbutrin sr to take with the XR.
In the meantime, I have six or seven non-SR Wellbutrins left over from another time on it and am going to try them, just to see how i feel.
It's a shame b/c the XR is really working for me in the GAD department, I just can't take the lack of energy and fatigue during the day.
This is the end of the thread.
