8 years ago I started on anafranil for my anxiety and depression. I quickly gained 50lbs. I later switched to Paxil gained 10 more. In September this year I switched to Effexor 150mg. I also started a running course and now run 5kms(3mi) 4 times a week. So far I have lost a whopping 4lbs.
I can't believe I haven't lost more. Does any one have any suggestions?. My eating is fairly good, I don't over eat or have the cravings like I used to on Paxil. Need help.

Don't get discouraged! Keep up the great work!
Do your clothes feel any loser? Muscle tissue is actually heavier than fat -- but muscle burns calories - even when you're not exercising. I'm sure your metabolism has to be raising. Just give it more time.
Your self-discipline is impressive. Feel good about it!

That's actually a decent rate of weight loss-- 1/2 pound a week is sustainable and healthy. If you want to accelerate it a bit, try adding a little weight training. Adding muscle boosts your metabolism and allows you to burn more calories, even at rest. Take a good look at what you're eating and make sure there aren't any hidden calories in dressings, sodas, etcetera and that your portions are the size you think they are.
But I don't think your rate of weight loss is worrisome. I lost fifteen to twenty pounds on Effexor myself, but it took a long time.

Ya, I can relate. Although when I was on Celexa, I lost 20 pounds. Although I think I lost most of it just before I went on Celexa, when I basically had a nervous breakdown. I lost the 20 pounds in about one month. I took Celexa for 8 months and kept the 20 pounds off no problems, I may have even drop another 5 pounds. When I went off Celexa, I gained back 10 pounds in about one months time. I have been jogging at least 5 to 7km 4 times a week, for about 5 months now and have not lost any weight. I have now added weight lifting, I am going to try for every other day. I have also bought CLA, and I am going to try that.
But I can relate to your frustration. Hard running just doesn't seem to do the trick for me, either. I am gradually cutting down on carbs, but not completely cutting them out. So between the weight lifting, CLA, not as many carbs, I should lose weight. But even if I don't, I have told myself, that losing the weight is not the most important thing. I have joined a running club, and met some new great people, I am entering races and have started to train for a half-marathon and enjoying it, and I feel so much stronger and better. Plus I sleep like a baby at night. So if I can't take off that extra weight, so what. I guess we have to get back to what is really important, and that is how healthy we are and not how skinny.
Take care
