Long-term Remeron or Paxil flashbacks?

Posted by grrovymotion on November 1, 2002, at 23:09:18

I've been on remeron for almost a year and did ok on it. No problems. But recently I went through extreme agitation and sleep disturbance and insomnia. The I noticed not long after, that I would, from time to time, experience something that felt like an old previous paxil trial (a very short one!), that I could feel the weird energy (electricity?) in me, sometimes even in my brain, just like what happened to me when I had tried paxil quite a while ago. Its almost like a flashback from paxil but milder.

Have you stopped remeron? And yes, I've seen on some boards where people still get zaps from paxil even a year or so after discontinuing it. take care, judy

I have had those electrical zaps. It seems that they are from a temporary lack of seretonin and occur with various SSRI and other ADs that have effects on seretonin. They are technically called parasthenia. I have those mild electrical sensations too occasionally even though I have not taken any ADs for two months. I had no idea that would continue that long. (I've used Paxil, Celexa, Effexor, and Wellbutrin.)
