Neurontin when needed...

Posted by Dr-Eamerz on November 4, 2002, at 21:35:19

I find that if I take 600mg of neurontin when needed it is far better than a benzo because the anxiety is greatly reduced (especially going outside) without the sedation..
Benzos have hardly any effect , just brings out depression---strange that neurontin has this effect .
Just thought I'd say......

Would you mind telling me more about neurontin? It seems to me that most people dont get much benefit from it but I have heard several wonderous reports of people on neurontin for gad, social phobia(which I have BAD) and chronic fatigue... I am taking 2 mgs of generic clonazepam right now and it just makes me a bit sleepy and maybe even a bit depressed. Any info would be great. TOM

(By the way ,I'm not a doctor : )

I initially took it as a mood stabilizer..but it didn't help..but I noticed my anxiety decreased alot..my doc wouldn't supply 600mg 4 times a day(reason unknown-maybe expensive -I live in uk)..it has short half life..I needed to take it every 4 hours..
Benzos make my sleepy and often suicidal.
Maybe you could give it a try and discuss dosage with your doc no harm in trying..

take care..

I think this is a great example of a drug working for someone even though a lot of studies compared it to a placebo. I'm really happy it is effective for you, I agree klonopin can be a depressing med (xanax is far better), but the positive about neurontin is it has very little to no side effects so it is definitely worth a trial. I was taking 2700mg/day (with no side-effects) before I decided to stop because it didn't help me. take care, judy

It would take away my anxiety, but leave me with a foggy brain and monotonous voice tone. Everything became slow and depressed.
