Does anyone else find the high frequency of lexapro posts somewhat unnerving? If I were a psychiatrist I would stay away from such a new drug until there was more information about its action, and only prescribe it for people who were willing after I had told them that I had little experience with the drug.
I realize that doctors do need to try new drugs, but it seems to me that there are a lot of psychiatrists treating their patients as guinea pigs.

The only major side effect I have on lexapro is excessive dry mouth. I can't get enough water.

I wish I knew why it is affecting me so badly even at 5 mgs. The anxiety just continues and so does the teeth clenching and muscle tension.
:(

Hi Bill,
Can I ask what you're diagnosed with? I had terrible anxiety for 6 years and finally went on Paxil for it. I became manic and was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I went on a mood stabilizer (Gabitril) and the anxiety completely went away. Unfortunately, I became depressed. I started Lexapro about a month ago as an add on to my mood stabilizer, but now my anxiety is starting to come back (which sucks because it has worked great for the depression). Ugh! Just wondering what your experiences have been.

Well up until today I had always been diagnosed with PTSD, Severe Clinical Depression, Personality Disorder NOS and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
I got a new Pdoc 4 months ago and after the Lexapro deal he has changed my diagnosis to BP Mixed Dysphoric. He discontinued the Lexapro (Thank God) and started me on Topamax 25 mg. He also added Klonopin for anxiety.
He swears the Lexpro is supposed to help anxiety. So it definitely affected me the wrong way.
Thanks for the response
