I am currently on 50 mg of Paxil which works very well for my anxiety and depression but doesn't do the trick for some annoying OCDs. Is anyone on a higher dose than 50? I don't really want to try something new because going off paxil to get pregnant was a nightmare.

I've taken 75 mg of effexor xr for OCD, but I found the most effective thing was psychotherapy. Well, mostly self administered, pdoc directed, and very much assisted by my dh. After about a year on the effexor, I came off and found very little reoccurance of my OCD symptoms and my "therapy stuff" kicked in almost subconciously. I can give you a couple of book titles if you like.

I'm on 60mg for panic disorder. (40mg worked, but I came off and went back on again - and had to go to a higher dose for the same effect). I think 60mg is generally the recommended dosge for OCD anyway?
Did you completely stop the Paxil for when you were pregnant? This is an issue I'm going to have to deal with in the next couple of years.

I'm on 80mg Paxil with augmenters - pdoc is confident that it can be pushed to this limit. Is it working? Mostly...

Thank you all for your replies!
I did go off paxil to get pregnant and the day after I took my last pill (and I did wean off slowly) I started have "jittery" vision and this creepy feeling in my hands. I called my doctor and he was reassuring but almost wouldn't acknowledge it was happening! Luckily it only lasted about a week and I became pregnant very quickly. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage but within two months I was pregnant again. The story gets worse here: I had one of those horrible live-with-your-head-in-the-toilet-bowl pregnancies and had to have a home nurse and IV! Being nauseous 24 hours a day was very depressing and I think that's why I needed to go back on Paxil which I did when I was 4 months. I stayed on 20 mg the whole time but had the hormone swing type of depression and anxiety as soon as I had the baby and went up to 50. My baby was healthy but the only caution I will give is that I think even she had paxil withdrawal. She was very fussy and tense at first and although I am a first time mom I'm pretty certain it was going off paxil for her. She is very happy now and hopefully the side effects ended there. Considering the state of mind I was in while pregnant I guess I would do it again.
I am interested in different methods for dealing with OCDs... Please post the books or methods.
Thanks again!
