Feeling like total hell. Going off of 40 mgs. per day extended release Ritalin. Tried to go down to 10 mgs. a day regular Ritalin. Horrible nausea, headaches, fluish. Today I have taken no Ritalin. Should I just stop altogether and start over in a few days. I have a big birthday party to have this weekend for my child and I need some help. Any advice to feel better soon?

I'm sorry you're feeling so terrible. Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds as if you went from 40mg extended release Ritalin to 10mg regular Ritalin in one fell swoop. That is way to fast to discontinue a drug. A good plan would be something like this
40mg ER to
10 t.i.d. IR for 1 week
10, 10, 5 for 1 week
10, 5, 5 for 1 week
5, 5, 5 for 1 week
5, 5 for 1 week
5 for 1 week
0The intervals between dosage changes could be shorter or longer depending on how you're doing.
So get back on a reasonable dose of ritalin and taper slowly. You don't have to go through a hellish withdrawal.
Post again and let us know how you are doing.
Feel Better,
Britt

Ritalin is not a drug you need to taper on. It's only in your system for one to two days. Maybe I'm wrong but I've never heard of Ritalin withdrawal. I was on it 5 years and often skipped days.
But good luck with stopping.
