Newbie to here...

Posted by Fenny3 on September 13, 2002, at 16:27:58

I've been reading this forum for days with fervent interest. I've been on effexor twice, the first time for ocd and it was fine, no side effects and easy to come off of. This time is different. I've had a permanently clenched jaw, very stiff shoulders, back pain, knee and shoulder pain...argh. Plus I feel weird.

Anyway, I'm on my 6th day of lowering my dose of Effexor. I take 75 mg XR daily and I want to come to ttc #2 babe. I thought I was doing real well, but today is a different story. I've got that familiar feeling where it's like I've been crying but I haven't, I feel melancholy, and exhausted.

It was so nice to find this board, almost every post I read about effexor struck something in me. I was thinking "hey me too" while reading.

Nice to meet everybody!

Fenny

I agree, I just found this site on the 10th. I wish I had found it when I started with paxil 5 years and 50lbs ago. I really didn't know that Paxil's side effects included the cravings and weight gain. I have now started weaning off paxil and beginning effexor. This site and the advise and info I have received has been great. Good luck with the meds.

Hey calaway, do you mind me asking what your dose is? My dh takes it...10mg. He's thinking of coming off of it in a while. One at a time!

To deal with the joint pain, I've been taking tylenol 4's. I can't take the caffeine in any other T's. I think this has been helping with the withdrawal as well as the pain. I can't keep this up either though...argh.

Does anyone know the effects of extended codeine use?

I know what you mean about the caffene. I love my diet cokes, and caffene never bothered me before, but now wow. I've switched over to sprite and noticed a difference.

As for the meds, I'm tapering off the Paxil, I'm now at 15mg every other night. On Tuesday the 17th I will be upping my effexor to 75mg right now I'm on the 37.5 starting amount. I think that I'm doing okay, I have to give at least a month to really decided if I like the effexor. So I'll keep you posted. If you would like to email me privately I'm at moore1994@shaw.ca .
It might be easier that running through the posts everyday. Talk to you soon.
