Hi,Cymbalta (duloxetine-Lilly), is supposed to be marketed sometime in the first quarter of next year. It is a dual reuptake inhibitor of serotonin and norepinphrine. Effexor (venlafaxine)is also a dual reuptake inhibitor. However, duloxetine has roughly 3x the affinity for NE reuptake transporters that Effexor does, so in theory lower doses of Cymbalta should be more "noradrenergic". However, Cymbalta (duloxetine) still has about 9x more affinity for serotonin reuptake blockade as it does for norepinephrine reuptake blockade, so it will still be a fairly strong "serotonergic" drug, likely to have similar side-effects that SSRI's do.
