Who's had any transmagnetic cranial stimulation?

Posted by missliz on September 8, 2002, at 1:46:17

So I' ve been offered TMCS (?) by the same fellas at LSU psych who've been trying to get me to do ECT (wasn't having any). Apparently they now have a grant, a machine, and a big shot to run a research program. I think this sounds interesting but I'd like to hear from anybody else who may have had this treatment and what the outcome was. I'm intermittently rapid cycling as all get out and have gone through almost all the drugs- they all work, but I have terrible side effects and physical reactions. I'm down to fish oil and selegiline and they're doing well for me, just not quite covering it.

I built my own TMS machiene to test
certain frequencies that are suposed
to help. I have found modest improvement
with it, mind you it may be the placebo
effect as I did have enough interest to
build it.

Commercial machienes are most likely more
powerful than my own.

The NIMH is taking volunteers for Rtms. Unfortunately, they are not accepting folks with bipolar 2 . It seems one of the volunteers became extremely manic when the "juice" was applied.
I am bummed.

Well. it looks like I'll be the first in my set to get this done. maybe. I don't know if I'm in or if I really want to do this, but it's under discussion and we'll see.
I'd rather two weeks in Italy. I think it'd do more good, even long term.
There's a bad pun in there about a more global aproach to mood disorder management.
