Hey all-
wondering if any fellow atypical depressive sufferers such as myself have had any success with bipolar treatments over and above SSRI's, MAOI's, etc. Like seemingly many atypical people, I have "soft" bipolar II symptoms (perhaps I could be cyclothymic, the BP 3 diagnosis, who knows).
So I'm wondering if anybody's has more success with BP meds like lithium, Lamictal, etc. Would love to know how they stack up.
PS- never tried an anticonvulsant except Neurontin (gabapentin), so my knowledge of what they feel like is minimal.

I have the same question. Hopefully, we'll get some feedback.
I tried Lithium but did not like it. As an athlete, it was more difficult to run, esp. in the summer. Also, had bad intestinal cramping and dirrahea, esp. at night. Was not pleasant.
Just started Lamictal yesterday.

First, I must say it works very well for a lot of folks. As a distance runner, it was not good for me because of how much I sweat, etc. Seemed to make me thirstier sooner and harder to work out. Also, at night I developed cramping with diarahea. I didn't stay on it long and I believe these symptons can pass, I just wasn't willing to wait and see.
This is the end of the thread.
