switching from zoloft to paxil - any advice?

Posted by homewood on August 17, 2002, at 6:52:07

I've been on 100mg zoloft since march, having recently increased to 150mg due to suicidal ideations. Had a dr. appt. yesterday and she wants to switch me to paxil - 25mg to start. i've been researching since yesterday and am quite frightened of the stories i've read about this med. can anyone offer some positive insights? thanks.

One positive thing I can say having used Paxil for 12 weeks, is it worked great for anxiety and depression together. I was actually laughing for no reason! Be sure that when you come off of it, to titrate down very slowly because for two days starting 3-4 days after reducing dosage, I was hit hard with depression.

Mt dr. has prescribed 25mg of Paxil CCR...I spent the entire weekend reading up on it and the wave of negative responses has me quite worried...
