Does anyone taking Lofepramine or did in the past. It should be a TCA similar to Desipramine and having fewer typical side effects of TCAs ?
Thanks

be very carefull with lofepramine...what you mix it with...I nearly bought it and had to go to ER..
I took it with merbentyl for gut relaxation...
my Pdoc prescribed lofepramine (a really great AD by the way) and my GP prescribed merbentyl...
two docs no cross referencing...
when I got out hospital three weeks later I read that the two were contraindicated...they cause a fight in the spinal column and brain..
I was losing consciousnous...ny heart was saying bye bye...I was seeing trails and peoples words seemed to register three seconds after I saw their lips move..
I suppose some people would sue...but anyway..lofepramine..is very very strong....

Hi Ben - I believe Lofepramine is only available in Europe (I'm writing from the UK), so there probably aren't as many case histories on this as on some of the other ADs.
I took Lofepramine on two occasions for endogenous depression with associated anxiety. I found it worked very well - alleviated symptoms pretty quickly, and was neither stimulating nor sedating so I didn't feel medicated. The only real side effect was increased flushing (this was in my younger days, however, and I seem to have become more med sensitive in the past few years).
For me, Lofepramine was far preferable to SSRIs.
Best wishes
Lizzy

Thanks for your repliesI am treatment resistent, tried a lot and looking for some options. I tried Edronax (Reboxetine) which acts on noradrenaline with only little benefit and had to come off it because of side effects ! Lofepramine is similar to desipramine so its perhaps similar to Edronax ?!

It's tempting to try to predict how someone will respond to a particular drug based upon the latest list of its observed properties. It doesn't always work, though. For me, desipramine has consistently provided me with some mild relief of bipolar depression. However, reboxetine dramatically exacerbated my depression within 5 days of starting it. I had a tough time fighting suicidality. This worsened state disappeared within 36 hours of my last dose. If you are treatment-resistant, I don't think it makes sense to leave too many stones unturned.
I hope you get real lucky real quick.

I have heard a lot about Lofepramine, and how well it works on treatment resistent depression. Is it only available in Europe? If so, how can I get it?
