I'm looking for anyone who has become pregnant while taking Seroquel. Thank you.

Were you having psychotic symptoms when placed on seroquel? If not, you shouldn't be on it. If it was for agitation, etc., by your second trimester the progesterone (nature's sedative) really kicks in and you probably won't need anything. When I had symptoms of psychosis, my pdoc put me on the older APs, they have a proven safety record in pregnancy. However, he kept me on the shortest possible time. I did have to take klonopin for a while and six months ago gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Best of luck- judy

Thanks for the message. Unfortunately, the Seroquel is definitely for psychosis. Tried to go off it once before (with hopes of getting pregnant) but went into a full-blown psychotic episode and had to go back on the Seroquel. It is the only medicine which has worked well for me, and it doesn't look possible to go off it. I am hoping to lower the dose to 100 mg. and try to get pregnant. The animal studies have been in doses much greater than the hightest human dosage (800 mg.) and there have been some problems with toxicity in animal fetus. I am hoping this lower dose will diminish the risks greatly. I am nervous, but want a family so very badly.

And even though klonopin has been shown to harm the fetus, I couldn't get off of that- and now a beautiful and HEALTHY baby girl. So, please try not to worry, if I remember right the atypicals have a very low teratogenic effect (as opposed to AEDs like Depakote, etc.) and I'm sure you will be blessed with a healthy baby. I wish you all the best-judy
