I hardly ever hear positive things about Paxil- but it sounds like it is working ok for you (?). Can you tell me how long you've been on it and what your diagnosis is? I have a prescript for it, but haven't filled it yet- I am a little afraid. I've been having bad experiences with most everything I've been trying lately.
Any info you can give me about your experiences with Paxil would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Hildi

Hi Hildi

I just started it 6 days ago, but things seem to be heading in the right direction. I started a year and a half ago with Effexor XR, then progressed through anti-psychotics, then eventually to lithium, which is what I am on now. 600 mg Lithium + 20 mg Paxil, and it seems to be going in the right direction. When the Paxil is working (what I think is the Paxil), I feel calm and content with myself. A lot of people HAVE actually had success on Paxil, regardless of its reputation on this forum. It is, after all, a very successful anti-depressant. I would say overall, couldn't tell you yet, but it seems that it will have some good effects. I have had a little shaking and a little bit of an upset stomach, but I'm also on Wellbutrin, just got off Effexor, and take Geodon, so that could come from a number of things. None of the side effects have been drastic enough to warrant me getting off of it. Seems to be going well... I feel good, happy feelings sometimes, and I feel the love again. I think that's the serotonergic effect. Anyway, hope this helped. I'll let you know if it gets any better.

I used to get mood swings and after going on Paxil they were controlled.

I have used Paxil for 6 years. I tried Celexa recently yo control panic and anxiety, but with Paxil and .5 Klonopin x 3 daily it works!

Paxil has some side-effects, but I can handle the extra weight in order to feel human. Paxil has elminated all panic attacks and works well on the residual anxiety.

I get tired but coffee works. I have tried eliminating the KP but it works best for me with the ssri and benzo combo. My first psychiatrist recommended this years ago and she has been proved right by time.

Hildi

It's now my 11th? day on Paxil and I believe I have gone through what could be called Paxil Poop-out. I no longer feel the good effects, and I have several bad side effects. My muscles are tight in my stomach area, I grind my teeth 24/7, I shake, and have a weak stomach. I do have a fair amount of other things in my medical cocktail, but none of these symptoms appeared until I started the Paxil, so I think I'm going to talk to my doc and get off of it. I felt it working for a time, but I no longer feel that effect. I've been through a lot of meds, and I think that's why. Hopefully the next thing will work. Here's to hope.
