I have been taking very low dose of Prozac (less than 10 mg) to help me get off the Paxil. I cannot handle the Prozac alone because it makes me too wired and a little manic, but I like the nice little buzz it gives me.
I would be willing to try another SSRI with a longer half life, I think Celexa's is 35 hrs. I know Zoloft is as short as Paxil's.
Anyone taking two SSRIs? Or is this a bad idea because of Serotonin Syndrome?

Hi. As far as I know Celexa has a short half life also. You could try Prozac 10 mgs every other day and add Celexa slowly. Just a thought......I hope it works well for you.

I am currently on a very low dose of prozac(2.5mg) as an augmentation to zoloft (75mg). Prozac on its own also makes me edgy, even hypomanic at therapeutic doses. When used in conjunction with another ssri (I have also tried it with celexa with similar effect), the prozac seems to potentiate the other ssri, and vice-versa, giving me much more energy. I cannot speak to the long-term effects of this combination strategy, but so far so good.

I actually really liked the paxil - celexa combo... the paxil took out my anxiety but made me stupid and slow (and worked on my ocd), the celexa made me very ocd and activated and helped my mood. For a few months I would take 1/2 my prescibed dose of each or alternate from day to day depending on what I needed.
My pdoc discouraged this (proabably because of serotonin syndrom), but I didn't explain that I was taking very low doses of each.. and not necessarily taking them every day either... more like 3 or 4 times per week.
I was doing that in February and I haven't felt that good since. My current combos are making me CRAZY... I think pdocs should reconsider mixing ssris...
Just my opinion..

I am feeling pretty good on 10 mg of Prozac every other day and Paxil every day (just 5 mg). We'll see what the psych says this week, knowing him, he won't like this combo...
Thanks for the feedback!
