Hey board,
Does anyone have helpful tips on how to bring along my flaxseed oil on a 3 day weekend trip??
I do keep it in the fridge and I was curious if anyone has any experience with this. Also, I have not been able to clearly understand whether flaxseed gives the same benefits as fishoil? (specifically skin benefits, heart, and general wellness)
Thanks!!

The omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed are short chain while in fish oil they are long-chain.In general the long chain ones are better and more effective. It used be thought at one time that the body could convert the short chain ones to the longer DHA and EPA but very little occurs.
Despite all this many people are perfectly happy with the flaxseed oil.The only absolute contraindication to flaxseed I am aware of is in those with Bipolar Disorder where it has been reported to cause mania while fish oil appears to be safe.

I grind up fresh flaxseeds in a blender and put them in a plastic bag when I travel.
