Lately, since I have been so greatly helped
by medication, I have forgotten about some
of the techniques I used to use for anxiety.Sit down and attempt to put your
head to your knee, go as far as you
can then go 5 more inches hold it there
no matter how painfull for 15 seconds
then release.I did this for 10 minautes and actually
felt like I had just taken a Lorazepam,I think Citalopram must accentuate the effect
of opiates or something. Before taking
a benzo do this, for 10 minautes it'll
make you think twice. I'm afraid I'll
build a tolerance to my own body.

In reply to Leg streches release some major endorphins, posted by linkadge on July 4, 2002, at 20:28:16
The leg, calf, and torso stretches prescribed by my physical therapist provided much better and much longer lasting pain relief for by herniated back disk than 2 Vicodin.
I really thought physical therapy was a waste of my time and an elaborate ploy by my insurance company to avoid paying for back surgery.
But, to my astonishment, it actually worked. I was in constant pain for 6 months and then after about 3 weeks of PT, and doing the stretches at home every day, my back and leg pain was gone!
If I did them every day, I'd probably be pain free forever, but hey, this is the reality: I slack off until the pain comes back, then take Vicodin for a few days until the stretching does it's magic.
