Maximizing your SSRI

Posted by linkadge on July 1, 2002, at 20:13:14

It would be very adventagious to use a common
folic acid + B12 supplement while taking an
SSRI. I have been able to reduce by dosage in
half, by using a B50 complex in combo with Celexa. Studies show that Folic Acid decreases response time and effective dossages of SSRI's. There is reason to beleive the effect extends to all AD's. Also take your AD's on an empty stomach. Avoid grapefruit juice as it has been shown to intensify metabolites that may be responsible for side effects but not effect.
Some people beleive that Folic Acid may diminish the poop-out effect.

If anyone else has found ways to increase the effectiveness of SSRI's please post them.

SAM-e may increase the effects of some SSRI.
Also if your SSRI is bound to proteins (like them you are directed to take with foods)a protein supplement togheter with the meds can highly rise the absorbation.
The folic acid+b12 as stated is needed in the syntesis of serotonin so a supplement of these can never be wrong.
