Has anyone had experience with Paxil CR? I am currently taking Lamictal 100, Depakote 500, and Ambien for sleep. I could be Bipolar II or Major Depression/Recurrent - depending on the pdoc doing the guess work at any given time.
Symptoms:
1) Moderate depression TR
2) Very anergicHad a great year on Prozac (1998) before "poop out". My current pdoc is willing to try Parnate but I am a bit reluctant to go thru the food hassle.
Any and all comments welcome. Thanks very much.Geezer

The food hassle is *highly* over-rated. If you trust our opinions, a few minutes of searching here will bear out my opinion.
I was stable on those MAOIS for +10 years. Wish I hadn't waited so long to switch to Parnate, though. At the time I thought the anorgasmia of Nardil outweighed the depression.

Hey Geezer,
I am also going to try the Paxil CR, and I must say, that I feel really good about it. I am striving to get thru self-conscious anxiety and a general feeling of coming in on myself.
Im very optimistic about the Paxil and some things I read online and tips from my doctor as to the new CR minimizing such side effects as weight gain are definitely encouraging.
Please keep us posted with your decision and maybe we can start a Paxil CR team.
I started on Thursday at 12.5 mg for the first week...
Thanks!

Timmy,
Will you direct me to where I can get some info on Paxil CR. Does it really have less side effects as Paxil? Thanks for your help.

Pbear,
You can either go to paxil.com and click on the Paxil CR logo on the lower right hand corner, or you can go to google.com and search for it and see the latest news. Its a newly released med so we have to take it all with a grain of salt. I have yet to find a useful message board on it and I wish that I could tell you that the side effects (and inevitable withdrawl!) are lessened with the controlled release. All we can do is keep the posts coming on the message boards!

Timmmmayyy,
Are you currently taking regular Paxil? If so, do you get seizure like brain surges from time to time. What the heck is that?? I don't know if I'm epileptic or what b/c I don't remember being like this before. Do you know anything about seizures being a side effect of Paxil CR

I found plain old Paxil to be one of the better antidepressants. Its too bad the anti-psychiatry assholes had to screw up a good thing. I wonder if this new Paxil will be as good as the original.
This is the end of the thread.
