I am wondering if there are others here that are being treated for Bipolar and ADD at the same time? What meds do you use? Pdoc won't give me stimulants, says it will cause mania. I am Bipolar II.

i am being treated for both i am currently on 900 mg's of trileptal 60 mg's of adderall 300 mg's of wellbutrin and 100 mg's of seroquel this mix is working pretty good now =]

Just wondering how long have you been on the meds and how long was it before you were diagnosed correctly. (I have a relative that I am sure is both ADD and Bipolar II but the docs just say his symptoms are the result of long term drug abuse) I believe the drug abuse came about partly because of the disease. Thanks for any info.

it didnt take long to get a diagnosis i am 19 now and have been on stims since i was 14 and anti depressants when i was around 16 a doc started me on lithium just recently though was i put on seroquel

Yes, I have been diagnosed with ADD and Bipolar 1 , and am currently on meds for both. Well, the truth is that this is the first time I am somewhat stable on meds in about two years. Currently I'm on 4 mgs Gabitril, 250 Lamictal. After I developed a tolerance to Adderall about 6-8 months ago I have really had trouble finding a good med for the ADD without messing my mood up tremendously-usually exploding me severely manic. This sucks even more since I'm in college; trying to concentrate and focus while studying isn't happening really.
However, I've had a fair amount of experience with the stim's.
Also, I've had a great response to the Gabitril.The difficulty with treating comorbid BP and ADD is the problem with stim's wreaking your moods.
Does you doc compeletely refuse to prescribe you any stims?
