I just got prescribed a form of Mirtazapine for insomnia and depression. It's called Avanza and the only information I can find seems to be for another type called Remeron. Could anyone please tell me some information about the medication i've been prescribed and any differences between Avanza and Remeron.
Thanks in advance

I did a search which revealed that both drugs are the same. Mirtazapine is good for both depression and sleep.

> Thanks in advanceAvanza = mirtazapine = Remeron
You can find tons of info on mirtazapine at: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/mirtaz.htm
Personally I didnt like Remeron, it didn't work for me and I gained a lot of weight on it very quickly
It will certainly help your insomnia, btw.

There has been some talk at school with a few friends of possibly getting some ecstacy & or mushies over the holidays, I know Mirtazapine is not an MAOI but I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest possible interactions between these two drugs; increased dangers (serotonin syndrome) or would it pehaps make the eccie more potent and have less of a comedown?.
I'm probably going to start on the Mirtazapine tonight, wish me luck.

> I'm probably going to start on the Mirtazapine tonight, wish me luck.Mirtazapine is safe to combine with all drugs except shrooms (and possibly acid, though I have never tried this combo, and I do not think it is as dangerous as with shrooms). You might need an extra 1/2 pill of e while taking mirtazapine, and I would definitely avoid shrooms as I almost ended up in the ER.
good luck and be safe
