Hello, I just went to my psych dr and he upped my remeron to 45mg went back to daily prozac 40mg and added Seroquel once or twice a day for anxiety. Could some one explain to me what Seroquel is. Am I taking too many pills? I am so afraid of all this meds but I am more afraid of the depression.

After looking at some info I learned that Seroquel is given to schizophrenics to stabilize psychotics episodes! This is really scary stuff. Aren't benzos better to treat anxiety. I don't think I want to take this medicine. This is enough to get me even more depressed.

Don't worry about the scary name-"antipsychotic"
Seroquel is really just a major tranquiller in wolf's clothing. I've taken Risperdal, Zyprexa, and Seroquel. They are fine drugs except for some of the side effects. I take them for major depression and anxiety, NOT schizophrenia.Mimi

> DeliDeli--They work immediately. It is such a wonderfully relieving feeling, like everything is really all right. I wished I had discovered this class of drugs sooner than I did. Risperdal worked fine, except I had to take another drug to counteract the lactation that Risperdal caused. This other drug is called Bromocriptine. Then I was put on Zyprexa in order to gain back weight I had lost while on Ritalin for ADHD. Currently I'm on Seroquel because I began gaining too much weight on Zyprexa. Happy Trails, Mimi
