Hi,
help is needed here. Got off the effexor because it squashed the sex drive and all feeling during sex. Now I am on Wellbutrin only. I am not seeing any difference. I did not have a problem at all prior to ADs. Could it be the Wellbutrin??

How long ago did you go off effexor? Is there a chance you could still be adjusting?
Wellbutrin can also cause sexual dysfunction... a little known fact. The percentage of people affected is much less, but it does occur.
And then there are depression and anxiety themselves. Although if your mood is now good it probably is more likely drug-related.

I did not have a problem at all prior to ADs. Could it be the Wellbutrin??Wellbutrin will often act as a sexual stimulant. Maybe just need a little more time to adjust after coming off the effexor. However, this is what if been recommending since trying it myself.
Try a combination of three or four of the following natural remedies. I've listed them in my own order of preference. This worked for me much better than Viagra, or any other prescription that I've tried.
- Epimedium Sagitatum extract(arial),
- Maca (Lepidium meyenii)(root),
- Potency Wood (Muira puama)(arial),
- Avena Sativa extract(ariel),
- Yohimbe extract (Pausinystalia yohimba)(bark), (yohimbe may cause nerviousnes - probably not good for people with GAD or depression - IMO. I don't use it myself so I don't think that it is essential in the mix.)
- L-Arginine,
- Zinc (or ZMA)
- Tribulus Terresteris extract(arial),Also: low dose selegiline (5mg or less). Selegiline is prescription only. Your Dr. can tell you if it is compatible with the drugs that you are on.
You can find all of these (except selegiline) at:
https://www2.acadia.net/cgi-bin/BAC/web_store.cgi
I like this site because it sells in bulk which makes the products much cheaper. The downside is that you have to cap the products yourself because if you take them without capping them most of them taste nasty.
I've went from one extreme to the other since using these inorgasmia to premature ejaculation. It will also increase libedo and sensation. I don't know if these supplements will work as well for women but most likely they will.

Thankyou, oh and its been about 2 1/2 weeks off effexor now. I was/am affected by low sensation and drive. I'll look into the herbs in a couple weeks if I don't see a change. If no change I will have to assume that Wellbutrin is the culprit.

No way! WB will amp your sex drive if anything. That's why so many former SSRI users have found the "joy of flying" again.

I'm a nympho again!
Before SSRIs, I had a REALLY healthy sexual appetite. Even on Wellbutrin and Depakote together...Well, I've been weaning off Effexor for about 6 weeks now. I'm now down to about 3 mg a day. The stuff is so hard to get off. Even though I have flu symtoms and feel sick as a dog most of the time, I want to have sex with my boyfriend so much more than before. Also, my ability to orgasm is back to normal as well as my ability to have multiple orgasms...so there is hope!!
My boyfriend came in to my life about 5 years ago, *right* as I was going on to an SSRI. So He's never experienced the *real me*, sexually speaking. He's a bit frightened. hee hee hee...

That's great news! Gives me hope!! My boyfriend has
never experienced the real sexual me either! And like
you, before the ssri, I had quite the drive! I hope
one day I can get off these things and re-experience
that deep joy!!

Yeah, the drive is coming back more the last week. I was lucky, the boyfriend did experience the real me for the first 3 months, then downhill with the meds, now we're working back up. I don't really feel that Wellbutrin has increased it. I think I am still hindered by it a little. Great that it works so well for so many others.
