hi there, i am just about to start prozac and i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas tips or experience in avoiding or minimising side effects especially anxiety , restlessness nad akathisia.
I have tried paxil and zoloft at the full doses and they both made me very restless and in zolofts case
i was shaking so much i couldnt walk properly.
i take a bit of xanax occasionally which mellows me a little but does nothing for low mood, at the moment my anxiety is well under control with exercise and meditation and a low dose of propanolol, i think prozac may help my mood if i can tolerate it for long enough- any ideas , anything at all would be helpful.
thankyou in advance

I wish I could be helpful... Have you inquired about going up SLOWLY to minimize side effects? This worked for me with tricyclics, maybe it would for prozac, too.
If the SSRI's do this to you, have you considered another class of drugs? I have the opposite problem: evcerything knocks me out.
I hope you have a good doc to discuss this with. I wonder about remeron...?

> thankyou in advanceNot sure I could help. I guess I'm just a strange case because I took prozac and wellbutrin together which are both supposed to be very activating. I went into a state of extreme fatigue so debilitating that I couldn't get out of bed and would sleep entire days away. My doc took me off the prozac and I'm now on wellbutrin and dexedrine SR. He still thinks I need to be on some type of SSRI, but I'm very reluctant after my prozac ordeal.
This is the end of the thread.
