Hi to everybody.
In your experience, starting Celexa at 20 mg/d, which are most common side effect reported?
Is it the true that Citalopram is one of the most safe drug on the market?
Is it effective, how long does it take to work?
Thanks for your help!

When I started Celexa I had acute anxiety/depression. The anxiety calmed down in about a week, which was a blessing. The depression didn't lift for about 3 to 4 weeks. I was really hyper for awhile after that, but it didn't last long enough. I don't think the depression is truly gone for me. I think the celexa just keeps it tolerable. I still get completely overwhelmed by my thoughts, and how much I hate my life. I don't think any pill on earth will change my situation, only I can do that. Intelligence and sensitivity, is a lethal combo.
As for the side-effects of Celexa mine were:
Yawning(for about 3 weeks, I couldn't stop yawning)
lethargy(still have a bit of that)
Excessive sweating(that lasted about 3 weeks also)
For about 4 days my anxiety was worse, then it went away.
No real stomach problems from Celexa (had them before the Celexa)
Shaky, jittery feeling. ( I still get it if I am too tired)
My hair seems to be thinning out (Although I gave my self a really bad highlight job)
My desire for sex is completely gone, but that was gone before the Celexa. It came back after using Celexa for 2 months, but then disappeared again. I can have an orgasm if I want one, just don't have any desire to. The fact that I can't stand my husband right now might have something to do with it.
There were more minor side-effects, but I have forgot what they were. Oh ya, my memory isn't as good as it was (BC) Before Celexa.
Best of all Celexa has given me a real "who gives a shit" attitude. Sometimes I think that is the only thing keeping me breathing.

I have been taking Celexa since December 7/2001.
I will try my best to describe "who gives a shit" attitude. For me it means, I don't get too angry or excited about things anymore. It would be like, if someone was to cut in front of me or cut me off in traffic and flip me the finger, I now just smile and wave. Before I would get very angry and swear and freak out. Or if someone at work yells at me, I just feel sorry for them and realize it is there problem and not mine. Before I would get very angry and either do or say something I would regret or internalize it and get physically sick from worry.
Hope that helps

Jaynee:
You are making me so hopeful. I am about to start Celexa. I can use a desensitized attitude right about now!
