Hello Mr. 3 Beers,
How are you doing on that Lamictal + Dex combo? Is it any better? Have you and your doctor discussed the possibility that the benzo MIGHT be blunting the effects of the stimulant? I wish I could get Lamictal to work for me.

I don't have an appointment for another few weeks. I am going to stop taking my 2 mg daytime dose of Klonopin altogether by reducing .25 mg every 3 days.
I might try to lower & eventually eliminate the nightime dose of Klonopin, but the last time I tried that cold turkey I would wake up once per hour all night long. Maybe i'll titrate downwards gradually to either 1 or even 0 mg and use 50 or 75 mg of Benadryl as a substitute & to prevent the inevitable benzo rebound insomnia.
I think i'm getting tolerant to the effects of Klonopin anyways & Klonopin makes for a lousy sleeping pill, Benadryl puts me to sleep much faster than Klonopin.
I guess I won't be able to tell which med (Lamictal or Klonopin) is blunting the Dextrostat until I quit the Klonopin all together. I still have a feeling that its the Lamictal 150 mg, but I guess i'll find out in next few weeks as I gradually get rid of the Klonopin. I don't want to give up on the Lamictal just yet even though it doesn't seem to be doing much of anything, atleast not until I titrate up to 200 mg & stay there for one month- i've tried every other AD & they either haven't worked or gave me manic insomnia & anorgasmia (SSRIs), so i'm running out of choices. If the Lamictal doesn't work I might just have to go without an anti-depressant- I didn't plan on taking ADs for the rest of my life anyways.
I've been pretty dissapointed with the array of meds i've tried for social phobia and the depression that accompanies it. I think the only real medicine for social phobia is alcohol. Klonopin is supposed to be the "gold standard" for social phobia treatment but compared to alcohol it's a joke. I'll probably just go back to binge drinking on the weekends when I go back to college in the Fall & take Dexedrine or Ritalin during the week to study- I got better grades doing that than when I went to see a psychiatrist for the 1st time & was put on Zoloft & my grades immediately went down the toilet, resulting in a mental health medical withdrawl & the wasting of thousands of dollars on tuition, room & board.

Today I was late for work and didn't take my usual 2 mg daytime Klonopin dose, only the 20 mg Dextrostat dose, but did not notice any difference in the lack of the effect of the Dextrostat. Last night I took my usual 150 mg Lamictal w/ 2 mg Klonopin at 9 pm. I guess I should have gotten either name brand Dexedrine or Adderall.

Hi 3 Beers,
I'll have to double check on this, but I think Klonopin has a pretty long half-life, so perhaps there was a lot still in your system. If you kept that up for a few days, perhaps you'd notice a difference, but I don't think it's a good idea to cut back on the dose of a benzo so drastically and so quickly. Isn't the "rule" on withdrawal something like not more than 10% per week?
