sexual dysfunction

Posted by Chuck555 on March 13, 2002, at 22:10:58

I am not taking any drugs at all, but however I am a 22 year old male and I have never had an orgasm or ejacualted while awake. I have seen many doctors who have basically proven that my nerves for having an orgasm/ejaculation are intact, expecially since i have wet dreams about every six months. I have tried seeing a couple sex therapists and that didnt help matters. I saw one of the top docs at Uva and he suggested wellbutrin(because of prosexual side effects) and Sinemet for parkinson's disease. Before he suggested apomorphine but the FDA turned it down for approval. I have tried the wellbutrin but that didnt help(i felt panicky all the time). But I am yet to try the sinemet because my dad who is a doc wants me to be close(i am at college) before he prescribes it for me. Basically the theory is that sinemet will activate a dopamine receptor in my brain that will make it easier for me to orgasm. Once I have one orgasm then it will be easier for me to have another and start a normal cycle. Besides this problem I am very healthy and I have never even broken a bone or had any traumatic experience growing up. I would like to hear any comments about sinemet or other possible helpful drugs or anything that might help my condition.

Many thanks,

Chuck

Beware of over-the-counter Yohimbe or prescription Yohimbine because of increased anxiety. Also stay away from cyproheptadine as it can lead to increased depressive symptoms.

Inquire about mirtazapine as a novel remedy, should the Sinemet fail.

Do you have erections while you're awake?

That is interesting. What you are talking about seems tantalizingly similar to different unwelcome side effects of certain of these psychoactive meds. I have taken meds that made it so I couldn't climax, it is not pleasant. I have heard of a med that people who couldn't climax because SSRI's were interfering with them could take that would temporarily provide them a window of opportunity. I can't remember the name but I know the doctor who told me about it. I wonder if that sort of thing would help. During the times when meds have given me troubles in this area, there were two distinct types of experience for me. The first was an erection that when employed felt great but I just couldn't and wasn't going to climax. That was very frustrating. The other form of disfunction was the mental realization that a trigger had switched somewhere in my head and even though there was no ejaculet my erection would slowly fade as if I had climaxed, this too was frustrating. Does your experience correspond to one of these scenarios more than the other? If not, how would you describe it? I ask because different drugs cause different reactions and maybe there are clues about the mechanism involved for you. When one takes into account the type of drug that causes a similar reaction. One could look at its mode of interaction with the brain and make some surmise about your situation, maybe.

Well my experience is that I get alot of full erections while awake, sometimes it very hard not to have one, like when dancing or something. It seems that the harder I get, the less sensation I feel in my penis. I mean i can feel it per se, but it doesnt feel good anymore, when I get really hard. Im not having any bad thoughts at the time, usually im fantasizing about something. Yes it is very frustrating, and i know that mood and different situations can affect sensitivity of a man's penis but i usually keep upbeat and just plug along try to find something that will help. O and i tried viagra, and i just had a really really hard insensitive penis. Very frustrating, thanks for your inquiries tho.

no ejaculation for me. erections ocasionally in the middle of the night(sometimes three or four extremely hard). during the waking hours the feeling is somewhat there, but its as if i have a little mini-me inside of my penis that says.."yeah, i'm horney too, but lets do it later." its frustrating...the drive and definatly the orgasim is not there. need to find a new drug.
