Have you asked him about trazodone? It's an antidepressant commonly prescribed for insomnia. Quite sedating for most folks. It worked well for me after I had been suffering from major insomnia for about a week & felt like a walking zombie. I was on it prior to being on seroquel (for sleep), but both, after a while, became too sedating for me.

Trazodone is typically pretty safe, though it can cause a rare serious unwanted side effect in men that you should ask your doctor about if you mention this to him.

Good luck.

That's funny, I was prescribed Seroquel by both my GP and then my pdoc even though I am not psychotic. They were just jealous that the voices talk only to me.

Sorry. Anyway, I'm being treated with Seroquel for bipolar disorder, I believe mostly for anxiety and insomnia, and it has worked quite well. It's not perfect...I feel tired a lot and have some break-through anxiety, for which I use clonazepam. Ask your doc why you can't try Seroquel.
