Hi all,
I had a doc appointment this morning, and, surprise! she's keeping me at 75mg of Effexor XR every morning for now. :-)
I still have sleep problems, so I was afraid to increase the dose because I'm quite tired these days, although depression and anxiety-wise, I'm doing well.
She suggested I try low dose trazodone at night to help me sleep better (any comments on that? I know nothing about it, except it's a tricyclic, which at low dose can help with sleep). My mood is the best it's been in decades, but I am very tired all the time. I sleep enough most of the time now, but I wake up several times per night, which leads me to think that I may not be sleeping deeply enough to get the rest I need. So I hope my sleep can be deeper with trazodone and I can catch up a bit. Otherwise I'll have to nap at noon at work just to function in the afternoon... not good.
Everything's fine otherwise. Remember, I was wondering when she'd say that I'm OK - what is it to be OK after all these years of dysthymia and major (atypical) depressions??? Well, she said it today! "You're doing fine, we will not increase the dosage at this time." I'm glad, because my treatment will be at least 1 year long, and it leaves some slack for dosage increases if it's needed along the way. Yeah!
Well, that was my good news of the day.:-) Life altering stuff... for the better.

Glad you are okay. Regarding Trazodone, I take a small dose [50 mg] with .5 Xanax generic for insomnia, and it is a great help to me. I find the combo works very well. I had been taking Prozac for about a year and have just come off it, but continue to take the Trazodone and Xanax at night.
